Shower Trap Cleaning - Hospital Bathrooms / Wet Rooms

Must hold Enhanced DBS

Purpose

To remove debris, biofilm, hair, soap and residue from shower traps to:

- Maintain proper drainage

- Prevent foul odours

- Reduce microbial growth

- Support hospital infection control standards

Scope of Work

Cleaning of shower traps and grates located around the hospital. This will be in patient bathrooms, staff changing rooms and clinical shower rooms. The work consists of removal of any grate / grill and the shower trap. All cleaning is done without the use of chemicals. The required result is to remove any debris and biofilm from the trap and grate. Most grills are held in place by screws, sometimes these are rusty, so a good knowledge of the use of hand tools is required.

The cleaning process is done with a low powered pressure washer and brushes. The only chemical used is Clinnell universal spray. This is used to keep tools free from contamination.

Accurate information logging is needed. Training will be provided.

Required Skills and Documentation:

- This position will require you to work in proximity to children and vulnerable adults.

- An up to date and clear DBS certificate will be required.

- Good time keeping is a must.

- The ability to work independently is a must.

- Good communication and record keeping is a must. You will be required to communicate with the Ward Managers and to adhere to the displayed local isolation protocols when required.

- Screwdriver / Plyers

- Drain brush / Bottle brush

- Small pressure washer

- Wheeled carry bag

- Approved hospital disinfectant (Clinnell)
