About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Environmental & Sustainability Manager / Advisor to join the high profile project in norfolk. This pivotal role will see you overseeing and improving environmental and sustainability (E&S) performance on a project in Norfolk, driving innovation, and supporting the development and implementation of the wider business strategy.
You will be responsible for producing and reviewing project-specific environmental documentation, ensuring compliance with environmental legislation, liaising with clients and statutory bodies, auditing and reporting environmental performance, and providing technical advice on environmental challenges. You will also lead the implementation of environmental management systems and sustainability initiatives, supporting project teams and the supply chain to meet ethical, sustainable, and carbon-conscious objectives.
Key Responsibilities
• Ensure compliance with UK environmental legislation including the Environmental Protection Act 1990, Environmental Permitting Regulations, Water Resources Act 1991, Waste Regulations, and CDM 2015 environmental duties.
• Implement and monitor the Project Environmental Management Plan (EMP).
• Conduct regular environmental inspections, audits, and monitoring.
• Monitor environmental controls for Direct Pipe, microtunnelling, shaft construction, and sheet piling works.
• Manage pollution prevention measures including spill control and fuel/chemical storage.
• Ensure correct waste segregation, storage, and disposal with duty of care compliance.
• Monitor noise, vibration, and dust impacts and ensure mitigation measures are in place.
• Support environmental incident response and reporting.
• Deliver environmental inductions and toolbox talks.
• Liaise with site teams, environmental consultants, clients, and authorities as required.
Mandatory:
• Degree or Diploma in Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or related discipline
• IEMA Foundation Certificate or equivalent
Desirable:
• IEMA Associate or Practitioner Membership (AIEMA / PIEMA)
• ISO 14001 Internal Auditor
• Spill Response Training
• Experience with sustainability or carbon reporting
