We are seeking to appoint someone to be responsible for overseeing all aspects of governance effectiveness and compliance within the school, ensuring governance adheres to good practice and meets all statutory and regulatory requirements. To secure the continuity of governing board business and observe confidentiality requirements by providing:
• administrative and organisational support
• guidance to ensure the board works in compliance with the appropriate legal and regulatory framework and understands the potential consequences for non-compliance
• advice on procedural matters relating to the operation of the board
The ideal candidate will have experience of clerking in a school setting and a Level 3 Certificate in the Clerking of School and academy Governing Boards. We will support people who do not hold this to obtain the qualification.
Attendance is mandatory at Committee and Full Trustee Board meetings.
These are usually held at the following times:
Committee meetings 5.00pm – 6.30pm (roughly 2-3 every half term)
Governing Body meeting 5.00pm – 7.00pm (5 per year)
JMHS was inspected by OFSTED in November 2022 who confirmed our good grading and whose comments included:
• Pupils behave well. They are polite to their teachers and considerate of their peers.
• Parents rate teachers’ high expectations because they push pupils to do more. Many say teachers go ‘above and beyond’ for their children.
• Pupils can do unusual stuff at this exciting school.
• School leaders have constructed a rich and engaging curriculum.
The school has excellent pastoral care based around small tutor groups, and there are many enrichment opportunities for students.
If you would like to discuss the position, please contact Mike Clayton Co-Chair of Trustees We are committed to equal opportunities and will make reasonable adjustments where required for candidates attending interview, and for appointed candidates
