Summary

The Imperial Orthopaedic Management Fellowship is aimed at giving orthopaedic surgeons during their training the time they need to build their leadership and management skills outside of their normal clinical role. The successful Fellow will take on improvement projects in the Trust under the supervision of the Clinical Director. They will learn at first-hand how clinical care is linked to service finance, how to ensure the smooth running of a service, and how to encourage behaviours to achieve service transformation. The successful Fellow will also be enrolled on a one-year MSc in International Health Management at Imperial College Business School concurrently with their Management role within the Department of Trauma & Orthopaedics at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. This sought-after post is open to all orthopaedic surgeons of registrar-level. National Training Number holders will be required to have the support of their Training Programme Director / HEE, and take an Out of Programme year for the duration of this Fellowship. The post is across-site (SMH/CXH/HH) but the on-call commitment is off-site for Charing Cross Hospital with the other senior fellows (plus senior cover for St Marys if an ST3 is on call or in cases where emergency cover is required). Approximately every 5 months you will also have an SpR of the week on-call commitment at St Marys. The job banding is 1B with London allowance. 50% of the fees of the MSc will be covered by the Department of Trauma & Orthopaedics.
