Summary

In this role, you will: 1. Demonstrate the Values and Principles of Peer Support Apply an understanding of a wide range of mental health difficulties and their impact. Draw on your own experiences in a safe, boundaries and purposeful way. Work in ways that uphold mutuality, equality and shared learning. 2. Provide Skilled Peer-Based Support Help individuals connect with others, build meaningful relationships and feel part of a community. Support people to hold hope for a life worth living and explore their strengths. Assist individuals in reclaiming identity and overcoming stigma. Enable people to define what "a meaningful life" looks like for them. Support empowerment by helping people take control of their own recovery journey. 3. Work as Part of a Multidisciplinary Team Collaborate with inpatient services, home treatment teams, community mental health teams, GPs, housing and voluntary agencies. Offer a lived experience perspective in meetings and discussions. Contribute to quality improvement, service development and audit where appropriate. 4. Maintain Professional Responsibilities Keep accurate records using Trust-approved systems (e.g., RiO). Adhere to safeguarding, confidentiality, data protection and information governance policies. Manage Trust equipment responsibly (e.g., laptop and mobile phone). Attend mandatory training, including Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression. Participate in monthly supervision, annual appraisal and reflective practice. 5. Commit to Ongoing Learning and Development Complete the enhanced Peer Support Worker Training Programme (face to face and online) within the first year. Engage proactively with assessments, case discussions, and observed practice. Maintain your own wellbeing, self management and professional boundaries.
