LOCATION: Supporting multiple sites across the Trust covering Coventry, Warwickshire and Leicestershire
JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent
WORKING HOURS: 37 Hours per Week, All Year round, Monday to Thursday: 8:00am – 4:00pm & Friday: 8:00am – 3:30pm
JOB OVERVIEW
We have a fantastic new job opportunity for an IT Support Engineer / ICT Technician to support the delivery of a high-quality ICT service across a group of schools.
As an IT Support Engineer / ICT Technician you will work closely with the Network Manager to maintain, support and develop ICT infrastructure, ensuring systems are reliable, secure and efficient.
The IT Support Engineer / ICT Technician will provide 2nd line support, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and contribute to infrastructure projects and improvements.
This is a varied role involving helpdesk support, network support, cloud services and technical problem-solving within a fast-paced education setting.
DUTIES
Your duties as the IT Support Engineer / ICT Technician include:
• Provide Technical Support: Deliver helpdesk and 2nd line IT support to staff and students
• Maintain Infrastructure: Support networks, servers, systems and cloud-based services
• Troubleshoot Issues: Diagnose and resolve hardware, software and network faults
• Support ICT Systems: Maintain Active Directory, Group Policy and endpoint protection
• Assist With Projects: Contribute to ICT upgrades, installations and system improvements
• Ensure Security Compliance: Maintain data security, backups, filtering and safeguarding systems
• Set Up Equipment: Prepare and configure ICT resources and classroom technology
• Monitor Performance: Identify system issues and recommend improvements
• Maintain Documentation: Develop and update procedures, processes and training materials
• Support Users: Provide guidance and training to staff and students where required
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
ESSENTIAL:
• NVQ in ICT or equivalent qualification, or relevant technical experience
• Previous experience in an IT support or helpdesk environment
• Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365
• Experience with Active Directory, networking and infrastructure support
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to support a wide user base
• Ability to prioritise workload and work under pressure
• Understanding of data security and confidentiality requirements
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Full driving licence and access to transport
DESIRABLE:
• Experience in 2nd line ICT support
• Knowledge of virtualisation technologies such as Hyper-V or vSphere
• Familiarity with backup, firewall and web filtering solutions
• Experience supporting mobile devices (Apple and Android)
• ITIL knowledge or certification
• Experience working within an education environment
