Summary
Laura Kyrke-Smith MP is looking to recruit a Constituency Assistant to join her busy Aylesbury constituency office. They will play an important role in ensuring constituents receive timely, professional support when contacting the office.
Working at the heart of a small, dedicated team the role will suit someone who is organised, empathetic and motivated by helping people resolve problems. It is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a busy constituency office and make a real difference to the community. Duties will include, but not be limited to:
Supporting the smooth running of the MP’s inbox, ensuring correspondence is tagged and allocated correctly.
Helping constituents with enquiries and logging, tracking and following up casework, ensuring issues are resolved promptly and sensitively.
Attending constituency surgeries and meetings and assisting with follow-up actions.
Providing administrative support to the team, including mail-outs, booking tours and assisting with events.
Occasional evening or weekend work may be required, for example to support constituency events or surgeries. Time off in lieu will be provided.
We are looking for someone with good written and verbal communication skills who is organised, approachable and able to work effectively in a busy environment. The role is full-time (part-time considered) and offered on a permanent basis following a six-month probation period.
An ideal candidate will understand and share Laura’s core priorities and have sympathy with the aims and values of the Labour Party, but this is not a requirement of the role.

We will ideally be looking for someone to start as soon as possible
Candidates should send their CV (max 2 pages) and a covering letter demonstrating how their skills and experiences meet the essential criteria. They should also include a short response (max 250 words) to the question: “What do you think are the most important qualities when supporting constituents who are experiencing difficult or stressful situations?”
Applicants must ensure that all material submitted reflects their own skills and experience. If AI tools are used to assist with drafting or editing any part of the application, this should be mentioned at the end of the covering letter.
