Summary

Experienced SEMH Behaviour Mentor (Full-Time)

Location: Bristol

Hours: 08:00 - 16:00, Monday to Friday

Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term (with Permanent potential)

Pay: Competitive Daily Rate (Based on experience)

The Role

We are seeking a robust, empathetic, and highly skilled Behaviour Mentor to join our team. This is a role for an expert-someone who can walk into a high-pressure environment and provide a calming, grounded presence for students with complex Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

You will be more than a mentor; you will be a specialist who understands trauma-informed practice and can implement bespoke behavioural interventions that keep students engaged and safe.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Crisis Intervention: Confidently manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours using approved physical and verbal techniques.

  • Strategic Mentoring: Work 1:1 or in small groups with students to identify triggers and develop personalised "toolkits" for emotional regulation.

  • Liaison: Act as a vital link between the student, teaching staff, and external multi-agency teams.

  • Progress Tracking: Maintain detailed records of behavioural incidents and positive milestones to inform Annual Reviews and EHCPs.

Essential Experience & Qualifications
  • Proven Track Record: At least 6 months of recent experience specifically within an SEMH, Alternative Provision, or PRU setting.

  • Advanced De-escalation: Up-to-date training in physical intervention (Team Teach, MAPA, etc.) is highly desirable.

  • The "Right" Temperament: You must possess high levels of emotional intelligence, resilience, and a "thick skin," paired with a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable youth.

  • Reliability: With an 8 AM start, punctuality is non-negotiable to ensure a settled start for our students.

Why This Position?
  • Fixed Hours: A consistent 08:00 - 16:00 schedule, allowing for a better work-life balance than many residential or care-based roles.

  • Team Support: Work alongside a multidisciplinary team of therapists, SENCOs, and experienced support staff.

  • Impact: The opportunity to see the direct results of your work as students move from crisis to stability.

How to Apply

If you have the experience to lead by example and the heart to never give up on a child, we want to hear from you.
