Summary
The Best Connection are recruiting Class 2 Skip Drivers for a leading waste management company based in Blaydon. Our client oversees the safe and efficient delivery, collection, and exchange of skips for domestic and commercial customers across the North East, including Newcastle, Gateshead, and Durham.
Key Responsibilities:
- Driving & Operations: Safely operate an 18.5-tonne Class 2 skip loader to deliver and collect skips in various environments, from narrow residential streets to busy construction sites.
- Load Securing: Ensure all skip loads are safely secured and compliant with road safety regulations before transit.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Perform mandatory daily vehicle safety checks and report any defects to the transport office immediately.
- Customer Service: Act as the face of the company, providing professional and courteous service at customer sites.
- Compliance: Strictly adhere to EU Driver Hours, Tachograph regulations, and Working Time Directives.
- Documentation: Accurately complete all paperwork, including Waste Transfer Notes and digital logbooks.
Requirements:
- Licence: A valid UK HGV Class 2 (Category C) driving licence.
- Qualifications: A current Driver CPC card and Digital Tachograph card.
- Experience: Previous experience operating skip lorries or hook loaders is highly preferred.
- Clean Record: Ideally no more than 6 penalty points
- Physical Fitness: Must be physically fit to assist with manual tasks and secure loads.
- Local Knowledge: Good geographical knowledge of the Newcastle and North East area to ensure efficient routing.
Hours of work and pay:
- Monday to Friday
- 07:00am - 17:00pm
- £15.00 per hour
