Help us make a difference to people with life-limiting illnesses…
At The Myton Hospices, we provide specialist care and support for people with life-limiting illnesses, and their loved ones, from the point of diagnosis to end of life. We are a much-loved and well supported charity, at the heart of our community. We have three hospices, a range of community services, and 25 charity shops in Coventry and Warwickshire.
About the role:
Would you like to be part of a motivated, forward-thinking team who are passionate about providing a very high standard of care to people either living with or caring for someone with a life limiting illness?
Apply now to join our Patient & Carer Wellbeing Service (PCWBS) team as a Nursing Assistant.
You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team of professionals providing a holistic approach that is sensitive and responsive to the ever-changing needs of patients, their families and their carers.
The PCWBS provides a blended model of palliative care, including telephone support, outpatient and face-to-face services.
A typical day as a Nursing Assistant in this team could involve:
- Assisting with running Information and Support group sessions
- Offering telephone support for a caseload of patients
- Working with volunteers to deliver individual and group activities
- Working in partnership with external providers to ensure effective communication and efficient use of resources
About you:
We are seeking a Nursing Assistant with:
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
- Experience of providing individualised care and support to patients and families - with life-limiting illnesses, within hospice / palliative care / community settings
- Multidisciplinary team working experience
- Communication, teamwork, IT and interpersonal skills
- Understanding of safeguarding
- Compassion and enthusiasm for palliative care
- The right to work in the UK (we cannot provide sponsorship)
This role involves driving across Coventry and Warwickshire, including home visits, so you must have a UK driving licence and a vehicle for work.
Similar roles you might have experience in include: Healthcare Assistant; HCA; Health Care Assistant; Care Support Worker; Carer.
Employment will be subject to enhanced DBS check, including the children’s and adult’s barred list, because you will be providing adult healthcare and supporting patients and their families in their homes. We will arrange and cover the cost of this check.
We are committed to building an inclusive workplace and encourage everyone to bring their true selves to work. However you identify, and whatever background you bring with you, we welcome you to apply. If there are any adjustments that would help improve your experience with Myton, we encourage you to share this with us.
We particularly welcome applications from people with disabilities and from ethnic minorities, who are currently under-represented in our hospices. We also believe our interview process should be inclusive and transparent. If there is anything missing, or a way we can improve, please do let us know.
