Summary

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Delivery Provide immediate assessment, triage and treatment for illness and injury in accordance with your training and scope (FREC 3/4 and any additional competencies). Deliver primary care-level interventions appropriate to remote/overseas settings (assessment, basic treatment, monitoring, referral/escalation). Recognise clinical deterioration and implement early escalation to local emergency services, in-country providers, Ops Duty, and the Clinical Lead as required. Provide ongoing patient monitoring and supportive care, including vital signs, symptom tracking, and reassessment. Operational Support Support medical planning for deployments including risk assessment, casualty response planning, and escalation pathways. Maintain readiness to deploy at short notice and operate safely in unfamiliar settings. Liaise professionally with local providers/partners (e.g., clinics, hospitals, transport providers) where required. Assist with coordination of onward care/evacuation planning under direction of Ops Duty / Clinical Lead. Documentation & Governance Complete clear, timely and defensible clinical documentation, including: patient assessment notes treatment provided observations and timelines handover records (SBAR style where appropriate) Follow XL Team policies for confidentiality, safeguarding, medicines governance, incident reporting, and infection prevention. Report incidents/near misses and contribute to post-deployment debriefs and learning. Equipment & Readiness Conduct kit checks, maintain personal clinical bag readiness, and ensure equipment is serviceable. Use equipment safely and report faults or losses immediately. Maintain personal readiness including vaccination/travel health compliance as required for regions of deployment.
