Summary

William Rowland Ltd (WR) is a metal trading, processing and distribution business, operating in the Revert and Refined metals sector with a turnover of £50-70m. The business is owned by Amalgamated Metal Corp, headquartered in London and of solid standing financially.

WR trades and distributes a wide range of high purity metals, alloys and metal powders to customers globally, from facilities in Tankersley (J36, M1)

The growing aerospace, defence, energy, IGT, foundry and petro-chemicals markets are WR’s key end user sectors.

WR is looking to expand via new product development and exports with a particular emphasis on speciality alloy scraps containing critical minerals.

Assisting with the receipt, processing, and dispatch of goods and materials.
Involves sorting, sizing, and preparing materials using a range of equipment.
Supporting day-to-day operations to ensure efficient and safe production processes.

Apprentices will receive comprehensive training across a wide range of machinery and plant equipment. This will include hands-on experience with processing equipment such as shears, forklifts (FLT), guillotines, bandsaws, shot blasters, and shredders. Where appropriate, apprentices will also be trained in the safe handling and chemical cleaning of metal turnings.
The programme is designed to develop practical skills, operational competence, and a strong understanding of safe working practices within a manufacturing environment.

Successful completion of the apprenticeship may lead to a permanent role within the business. Apprentices will have opportunities to progress into skilled operator, supervisory, or specialist roles, supported by further training and development.

Training will be delivered through a combination of on-site practical experience and off-the-job learning. Off-the-job training will be undertaken either at Barnsley College or within the workplace, depending on programme requirements.
The apprentice will work towards achieving a recognised qualification in Warehousing alongside developing practical skills and industry knowledge.

Qualification required:

Maths, English and Science GCSE level 4/5
