Summary
We’re working with a well-established civil engineering contractor delivering complex highways and infrastructure schemes across the North East and Scotland. Due to continued project awards, they’re now looking to appoint an experienced Site Agent who is comfortable operating regionally and supporting projects north of the border when required.
This role offers long-term security, exposure to technically challenging works, and a clear pathway towards Project Manager level for the right individual.
The Role
As Site Agent, you’ll take full responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of civil engineering works, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. You’ll be a key link between site teams, subcontractors, and senior management.
Projects will primarily be based in the North East, with regular travel to support schemes in Scotland as workload demands.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing daily site operations across highways, structures, and civil engineering works
Coordinating labour, plant, materials, and subcontractors
Ensuring strict adherence to health, safety, environmental, and quality standards
Monitoring programme and cost performance, resolving site issues proactively
Liaising with Project Managers, designers, and client representatives
Producing accurate site records, reports, and progress updates
Mentoring junior engineers and supporting their development
About You
Proven experience in a Site Agent or Sub Agent role within highways or civil engineering
Strong background in structural maintenance, concrete repair, or infrastructure works
Confident managing live sites and multiple stakeholders
Comfortable with regional travel, including working on projects in Scotland
Solid understanding of H&S legislation and quality systems
IT-literate (site reporting, QA systems, MS Office)
Full UK driving licence
Qualifications & Tickets:
HNC / HND / Degree in Civil Engineering
SMSTS, CSCS, First Aid – essential
Temporary Works Coordinator and NEC contract experience advantageous
