The Practice

This opportunity is with a well-established, independent small animal veterinary practice operating across two modern sites in Cheshire. The flagship site is an RCVS-accredited small animal hospital, a recognised nurse training practice, and a Gold Cat Friendly Clinic. The practice is committed to delivering the highest standards of first-opinion veterinary care to patients and clients.

The hospital is fully equipped with advanced facilities including:

• Two surgical theatres
• Dedicated dental suite with dental radiography
• In-house laboratory (IDEXX blood and urinalysis including Sedivue)
• EPOC machine
• Digital radiography (DR X-ray)
• High-quality ultrasound
• Video endoscopy and laparoscopy

A second, purpose-built standalone practice opened four years ago and offers the same high standard of care. Overnight inpatients are transferred to the main hospital, ensuring continuity and clinical support.

The practice prides itself on delivering excellent veterinary care in a professional, friendly, and client-focused environment.

The Team

The team consists of eight experienced veterinary surgeons, including certificate holders in Anaesthesia, Emergency & Critical Care (ECC), and Medicine, alongside a Diplomate Orthopaedic Surgeon. Additional support is provided by visiting specialists in Soft Tissue Surgery, Cardiology, and Diagnostic Imaging, enabling the management of complex and varied caseloads.

The nursing team includes eight Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs) and two Student Veterinary Nurses (SVNs), led by a DipAVN and supported by ECC certificate holders. A dedicated and professional front-of-house team ensures smooth day-to-day operations.

The Role

The practice is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join the team. The successful candidate will:

• Deliver high-quality first-opinion veterinary care

• Be proactive and committed to continuous improvement

Support is readily available, and the practice actively encourages further professional development, including postgraduate qualifications.

Working Pattern

• Four-day working week
• 1 in 8 weekend rota (Saturday and Sunday, 8:00am – 5:00pm)
• Two days off in lieu following weekend work
• Dedicated out-of-hours provider (no on-call requirements)
• Shared inpatient care with RVN team (1 in 8 nights)
• 24/7 staffed hospital
