A Burnley-based primary school is seeking a full-time Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated SEN Unit, supporting children across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This is a long-term position starting in May 2026 and offers the chance to work within an established and supportive team.
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with ASD
- Supporting learning, communication, and social development
- Assisting the class teacher with daily classroom activities
- Helping to deliver personalised interventions and learning plans
- Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour needs
- Working closely with the SENCO and wider SEN team
- Contributing to learning observations and progress notes
- Assisting with personal care if required
- Experience supporting pupils with SEN (ASD experience desirable)
- Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Calm, patient, and resilient approach
- TA qualification or relevant school-based experience preferred
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
- A well-resourced SEN provision
