Long Term Futures is seeking a resilient and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to provide support for a Year 2 pupil with ASD in a primary school in the Lambeth area. The role will primarily be 1:1 focused but can also be group-based work. You will help the pupil remain engaged in learning.
This position is ideal for someone with experience supporting students with ASD or other SEMH and SEND needs, who can provide structure, consistency and a calm presence in the classroom.
About the Role:
Working closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and SLT your duties will include:
* Supporting a Year 2 pupil with ASD
* Providing consistent guidance to help the pupil stay focused and engaged
* Providing 1:1 support
* Working in hubs where provisions are in place for supporting students with ASD
* Supporting learning during lessons across the KS1 curriculum
* Ensuring the pupil doesn't get distracted during class and focuses on the task at hand
Ideal Candidate Profile
* Experience supporting pupils with ASD and other associated needs.
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills
* Ability to maintain clear expectations and consistent boundaries
* Reliable and committed to a long-term placement
* Previous experience working in schools, care and support or children with learning difficulties would be advantageous.
