Summary

As a Clinical Terminologist, you will play a key role in not only setting up an infrastructure that supports the ongoing terminology and SNOMED mapping needs of the organisation but working with clinical and technical teams to ensure that clinical terms, codes and mapping algorithms directly align with clinical practice.

This will include supporting several key projects geared around key data set requirements, clinical research domains and SNOMED upgrades. In turn this work will involve engaging with various stakeholders across the Trust to ensure the integrity of data flows and support the Trust in meeting its local and statutory reporting requirements.

This is a 6-month fixed term position underpinned by key outcomes and deliverables working very closely with the EPIC and clinical coding team to ensure a collaborative and joined up approach to system developments and front-end data capture.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in not only clinical coding but more specifically within clinical terminology and Snomed mapping works and projects.

The Clinical Terminologist will be responsible for working with clinical and technical teams, leading on terminology mapping works and projects including the ensuing system upgrade to OPCS 4.11, Snomed upgrade, clinical research works and facilitating for core minimum data set requirements.

The ability to work directly with clinical teams in the capture of clinical activity, align this with classification and terminology flows and work collaboratively with the coding and EPIC team regarding system build and developments is pivotal.

In turn this role will be responsible for supporting a series of time critical projects in an intuitive and highly organised way, successfully managing stakeholder expectations and supporting the hospital in meeting local and national mandates.
