Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated Pathway Administrator to join the Urology Team at Charing Cross Hospital. The post holder will support the Urological Cancers Service, with responsibility for coordinating and managing diagnostic appointments across high-volume bladder and renal pathways.
Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will ensure patients progress smoothly through their pathway in line with national cancer and Referral to Treatment (RTT) standards. The role involves liaising with clinicians, CNS teams, diagnostic services and administrative colleagues to deliver a high-quality, patient-centred service.
You must be highly organised, able to prioritise effectively, and confident working in a busy environment. Excellent communication skills are essential, as you will interact with patients and staff across multiple disciplines.
Knowledge of RTT, DM01 diagnostic standards and the Two Week Wait pathway would be advantageous.
• Managing outpatient Flexible Cystoscopy appointments, a high volume Urology diagnostic procedure. The Flexible Cystoscopy clinics form an essential part of the Haematuria 2WW pathway as well as qualifying as a DM01 reportable diagnostic.
• Scheduling Urology Outpatient procedures including Transurethral Laser Ablation for cancer and stent removal.
• Updating the manual Urology diagnostic PTL
• Responding to patient queries by telephone and email
• Responding effectively to queries from patients and other external parties in line with Trust values, contributing to a positive patient experience.
• Providing administrative support to the relevant clinical teams ensuring the patient's journey is managed efficiently in accordance with referral to treatment targets and agreed timescales.
• Ensuring that letters and other relevant documentation reach appropriate people, including patients and other healthcare professionals, within agreed timeframes and that all correspondence is appropriately recorded on the Trust's patient administration system.
• To receive and respond to all telephone and email enquiries from patients, carers and external parties in a polite and professional manner, ensuring that accurate records are maintained and appropriate action is taken in a timely manner, escalating more complex queries to the relevant member of the team.
