Summary

Huntingdonshire District Council (HDC) is passionate about providing high-quality services to our communities, residents and businesses. This means we must employ and retain the most talented and dedicated people.

Situated within the heart of the Cambridge-Peterborough Growth Area, Huntingdonshire is a beautiful district that boasts thriving market towns and many attractive villages, each with its own identity. We are an innovative and forward-thinking local authority whose residents are at the heart of our decision-making.

At HDC we want to employ staff who embody our icare values (Inspiring, Collaborative, Accountable, Respectful, Enterprising), all of which support our ultimate purpose of putting our customers first.

Job details
The One Leisure Active Lifestyles team provides an extensive physical activity programme focussing on getting individuals more active and reducing inactivity levels across the district.

This role forms part of a new pilot project designed to activate and enhance the use of Hinchingbrooke Country Park in advance of significant capital investment planned for the site in the near future. The project will help test and develop activities that encourage greater community use of the space, supporting local residents to be more active and engaged with the park environment.

As a Sports Activity Leader, you will play an important role in delivering engaging, safe, and inclusive activities that attract people of all ages and abilities. The focus of the role will be on creating a welcoming and enjoyable environment, encouraging participation in sport and physical activity and helping to build momentum for the park as a vibrant community space.

The successful candidate will be supported by colleagues from the Active Lifestyles Service and Parks and Countryside service, who will work collaboratively to ensure the successful delivery of the pilot programme.

Above all, it is essential that you demonstrate behaviours in line with our values and passion and a commitment to continually seek to innovate and develop our workforce, which will, in turn, enable us to succeed in our strategic ambitions.

An offer of employment is conditional upon having the right to work in the UK. HDC does not hold a Sponsorship Licence and is unable to provide a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) or take over sponsorship for any role.

To apply for this position, please complete the application form.

The closing date is 9am on 7 April 2026 and interviews will be held 13 - 15 April 2026. There will be a practical assessment, after which candidates may be invited to a follow-up interview.

However, this is a rolling campaign and we'll be reviewing applications on an ongoing basis and will close the advert early should we receive suitable applications, so please don't delay in applying!

Should you have any additional questions regarding submitting an application, please contact the Recruitment Team at recruitment@huntingdonshire.gov.uk.
