Summary
Job description
We are looking for 2 Personal Assistants to provide support to a fun loving and humorous 16 year old young man who is non-verbal, has learning disabilities, is wheelchair based, has an epilepsy profile and is PEG fed.
Hours: Term time – up to 12 hours/month
School holidays – up to 18 hours/month
After school and early evening (4pm – 10pm) homebased support involving providing full personal care and bathing on a 1 to 1 basis.
Trips out (10am – 4pm) support in the community, offering independence, cinema trips, music, meeting friends and visiting interactive spaces (e.g. Centre for Life/Blue Reef Aquarium). The client requires Changing Places toileting facilities when in the community and, therefore, needs 2 to 1 PA support on trips out.
Termtime these will be 1 trip/month on a Saturday. In the school holidays these will be 2 trips/month, with flexibility on the days of the week.
Preferred Requirements
Previous experience supporting a child or adult with learning disabilities, including PEG feeding, appropriate Moving and Handling.
Previous experience of driving a Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle and have a clean driving license.
Training
Our client will provide training for gastrostomy care, epilepsy support and rescue medication and appropriate moving and handling.
The successful candidate will be required to complete a DBS application. This will be funded by the employer.
