Summary
1. To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work. 2. To work within the framework of local and National Clinical Guidelines for Stroke and NICE clinical guidelines 68, including future updates. 3. Be an autonomous practitioner (i.e. be responsible for own assessment, treatment and discharge decisions; within own level of competence, professional and service parameters.) 4. Use high levels of insight, skill and experience to carry out clinical role. 5. Implement the TIA Care Pathway to patients referred to the stroke service, triage all TIA referrals from a variety of sources e.g. GP, Clinic, Ward, A&E and order and coordinate investigations and clinic appointments in a timely manner within specified target times of 24hrs or 7 days. 6. Undertake similar assessments in working environments other than the clinic e.g. the ED department, meeting the 4 hour wait target. 7. In conjunction with the medical team the post holder may have responsibility for reviewing results and ensuring appropriate action taken as required. 8. Deliver information and advice to clinic patients about secondary prevention of stroke and lifestyle choices which may be contentious information. Please refer to the JD for full responsibilities.
