Summary
The Assisted Conception Unit at St Helier Hospital wishes to appoint a Clinical Research Fellow to this established full time post. This post is suitable for a person holding a Specialist Registrar position or with middle grade experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and will enable the successful applicant to pursue a research project whilst obtaining practical experience in Assisted Conception Unit.
Attendance and participation in the audit and Postgraduate activities of the clinical department will be also be expected. The post will be for one year in the first instance and the successful application will be encouraged to apply for further funds to complete a higher degree, depending on initial progress.
Responsibilities include the care of Fertility couples.
The role is to be based in the ACU, St Helier Hospital and to provide a quality service for patients undergoing assisted conception treatment.
Duties include participating in the weekly fertility and assisted conception clinics, follicular tracking and baseline scans, pregnancy scans, theatres including egg collections, embryo transfers and multi-disciplinary team meetings.
It is anticipated that the successful applicant will be made fully conversant with the skills required to practice Assisted Conception and manage patients in accordance with unit protocols.
The successful applicant will be expected to participate in research. There are several projects currently underway.
There is potential for research to be undertaken in conjunction with other departments both within Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust. Appropriate time within the timetable will be allocated to Research.
All duties are currently within St Helier Hospital, always accepted that occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances may occur. Successful applicants will be appointed to the service of the Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust and may be required to work anywhere determined by the duties of the post.
