Summary
The Facilities Management team at Canterbury City Council are looking for a Compliance Officer to join them.
We’re looking for an exceptional individual to join our Compliance team as a Compliance Officer to support the team with a wide variety of tasks and activities.
You will need to demonstrate a genuine interest in, and understanding of, social housing compliance and be ready to work in a team to provide support activity that will include administrative tasks, arranging access, data entry and ensuring accurate data is held within True Compliance and other systems.
You will be working with data and ensuring all information is reflected and maintained correctly in our records and systems as well as provide support to the Lead Compliance and Building Safety Manager and provide project support to the team on key administrative projects as required.

About this compliance job:
Here’s what you’ll get up to:
You will be responsible for the end‑to‑end management of compliance documentation, including:
Quality checking incoming compliance reports for accuracy and completeness
Uploading and maintaining data on council systems
Tracking compliance actions and following up with internal teams and external contractors
Running reports and identifying areas of potential non‑compliance
Ensuring timely escalation and supporting the delivery of corrective actions
Supporting new compliance services and decommissioning activities
This role is key to helping us maintain safe homes, safe workplaces and a safe district.
Working pattern:
working pattern will be Monday to Friday
Contractual hours will be 37 hours per week

About you, the ideal candidate for the job:
Your knowledge
Understands core compliance areas such as asbestos, lifts, fire safety, legionella, electrical and gas safety
Has knowledge of the Building Safety Act
Your experience
Have experience of working within Asset Management or Compliance service, especially within a social housing environment
Understanding of Compliance areas and requirements for housing
Experience of producing KPIs in a customer focused environment.
Have excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
Experience with MS Office and excellent knowledge of excel and word applications
Your skills
Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy
Ability to maintain and interrogate compliance databases
Strong organisational skills
Confident communicator with internal teams, contractors and external partners
Able to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced, risk‑driven environment
Your qualifications
Good level of written of spoken English
Proficient in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word
Due to the nature of this role, the successful applicant will be required to undertake a Basic DBS check as part of their pre-employment clearances.
