Kitchen Assistant (Cook) – School Kitchen
Location: Crompton
⏰ Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:30am – 1:30pm
Pay: £12.21 per hour
Contract: Temporary ongoing

We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant (Cook) to join a school kitchen team. The successful candidate will support the preparation and cooking of healthy meals for students and staff while ensuring the kitchen maintains high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and food safety.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist with the preparation and cooking of daily school meals
- Prepare ingredients and basic food items according to the menu
- Support the cook or kitchen supervisor during meal service
- Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic kitchen environment
- Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment
- Follow all food hygiene, allergen, and health & safety regulations
- Help receive and store food deliveries appropriately

Requirements:

✅Previous kitchen or catering experience preferred but not essential
✅Basic understanding of food hygiene and kitchen safety
✅Ability to work well as part of a team in a busy environment
✅Reliable, punctual, and organised
✅Good communication skills
✅A valid DBS check is required (or willingness to obtain one prior to employment)
