Summary

Job Title: Senior Support Worker
Reports to: Home Manager / Deputy Manager / Nurse
Location - Lowestoft

About the Role

We are looking for a compassionate and experienced Senior Support Worker to join our care team. In this role, you will help meet the daily needs of residents while promoting independence, dignity, and wellbeing. You will support the delivery of high-quality care, contribute to care planning, and provide guidance and support to other team members.
You will also assist with formal supervisions, appraisals, and coaching support workers, helping to maintain a positive and professional working environment. The role focuses on ensuring residents receive person-centred care that respects their individual needs and preferences.
Our services support individuals with learning disabilities and complex needs, particularly those who benefit from living in a calm and supportive environment. Care is delivered using a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) approach, which focuses on person-centred care, promoting independence, encouraging participation, and supporting individuals to live meaningful and fulfilling lives.

Key Responsibilities

- Support residents with daily living activities and personal care, maintaining dignity and respect at all times.
- Contribute to care planning and reviews, ensuring individual needs are met.
- Conduct staff supervisions and support appraisals when required.
- Coach and guide support workers to deliver high-quality care.
- Promote a person-centred approach, encouraging independence and choice.
- Support the implementation of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) practices.
- Recognise and respond proactively to residents’ needs, helping to reduce distress or behaviours of concern.
- Work collaboratively with the wider team to maintain a safe and supportive environment.

Skills and Attributes

- Previous experience in a senior care or support worker role.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload effectively.
- Ability to work well as part of a team.
- Compassionate, empathetic, and caring approach.
- Full UK Driving Licence preferred but not essential.

Education and Qualifications

- NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care, or willingness to work towards this qualification.
