Position: Full-time temporary Administration Officer/Court Usher

Location: Crewe

Contract: 3 months with the possibility of extending

Working Hours: 37 per week Mon-Fri

Pay rate: £12.36 per hour, rising to £13.25 after 12 weeks

Job Description:

Brook Street have a exciting opportunity for an organised, motivated Administration Officer to join our public sector client based in Crewe. The role also includes Court Usher duties twice a week. Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Preparing papers and files for court, tribunals, hearings and meetings
  • Producing court documents
  • Creating and updating records on internal systems
  • Data input
  • Drafting standard letters and documents
  • Clerking Civil and Family Courts, tribunals and hearings
  • Prepare court and hearing rooms and clear them down at the end of the day
  • Call parties into court in priority order and escort court users as required
  • Support vulnerable adults and children attending hearings
  • Keep parties informed of changes to hearing times or courtrooms
  • Liaise with Court Clerks, Legal Advisers, the Judiciary, Witness Service and external agencies
  • Assisting court users with general queries

As a Court Usher, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of court proceedings. You will act as the first point of contact for court users, provide essential support to the judiciary and administrative teams, and help maintain a professional, safe and organised court environment.

This is a public-facing role requiring professionalism, resilience, and sensitivity when dealing with vulnerable individuals and potentially distressing situations. While tasks are governed by established procedures, you will need to react quickly and appropriately to changing circumstances.

Requirements:

  • Able to follow well established processes and detailed instructions.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging or sensitive situations
  • Strong administration skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office packages
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
