We're Hiring: Freelance Site Manager
Location: Cumbria (Northwest)
Sectors: MOD New build
Day rate: Can be discussed
Duration: 20 weeks
We are looking for a Freelance Design manager for a MOD new build project based in the Northwest (Cumbria). Starting as soon as possible we need a Design Manager experienced in MOD projects and new build developments. This is a 20 week project supporting the delivery of a high-profile government facility.
Key Responsibilities of the Freelance Design Manager:
- Manage and coordinate the design process from pre-construction through to delivery.
- Liaise with consultants, subcontractors, and project teams to ensure design information is issued accurately and on programme.
- Review drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements, security standards, and buildability.
- Lead design team meetings and manage the flow of information between stakeholders.
- Work closely with site and commercial teams to resolve design issues and maintain project progress.
- Ensure design solutions meet MOD and secure facility requirements.
Required Qualifications/Experience as a Freelance Site Manager:
- Proven experience as a Design Manager within the construction sector.
- Experience delivering secure government, defence, custodial, or highly regulated projects is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of design coordination and technical compliance.
- Ability to manage multiple consultants and maintain design programmes.
- Security clearance (or eligibility to obtain it) may be required.
