Stratford located in Granta House 15-19 Broadway, London E15 4BQ and St Ann's Moorfields, St Ann's road, Tottenham, N153TH is seeking to appoint to band 5 roles.. Experience in ophthalmology is not essential as you will receive a tailored induction and development plan based on your individual needs, as well as attendance on our New to Ophthalmology course.

The theatre team is supported by the theatre manager and senior theatre practitioners. The team has successfully gained cataract hub accreditation run by NHS England’s Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) program in collaboration with the Royal College of Surgeons of England .

You will have the opportunity to learn about each of the very specialised areas of ophthalmology surgical practice as a team member in our theatres.




Experience

To work according to the Nursing & Midwifery Council Code of Professional Conduct and relevant professional guidelines as a scrub nurse for a defined group of patients and take responsibility for:

- Protecting and supporting the health of individual patients and clients.
- The assessment of care during the peri-operative period.
- The development, implementation, and evaluation of programs of care.

including discharge planning from the theatre suite for each patient.

To provide skilled assistance to the Anaesthetists and Surgeons in the Moorfields operating theatres.

Have the skills, knowledge, and expertise to be able to take appropriate action when dealing with emergencies.

To assist in promoting and implementing the MEH Nursing Strategy in the department.

To be a visible presence for Moorfields Staff and patients

To liaise with the Patient booking team to ensure that the lists are booked efficiently and the resource is used effectively.

To promote and maintain effective communication within the multi-disciplinary team between Moorfields Eye Hospital and the satellite sites.

To facilitate and support student nurses and others to develop their competence and skills which will enable them to become competent practitioners.

To participate in the training and development of Health Care Assistants and complete assessors training as required.

Support other site when the need arises



Stratford Moorfields is situated within Granta House 15-19 Broadway, London E15 4BQ, in proximity to Stratford overground and underground network, and with an abundance of local buses that serve the area. For St Ann's, there Haringey overground and Seven Sisters supported by the 67 or 341 BUS.

To maintain and ensure the safe delivery of peri-operative care during the patient's stay in the theatre.
Have the knowledge and skills to be able to take appropriate action in emergencies and to act as a member of the Resuscitation team.
To promote a patient-focused multidisciplinary approach to care in collaboration with health care professionals, carers, and agencies.
To complete patient documentation correctly, appropriately, and on time.
To maintain a safe environment and work with other members of the team at the sites to produce healthcare environments that are conducive to safe, therapeutic, and ethical practice.

To be responsible for developing and sustaining own knowledge, developing the role as an advanced theatre practitioner, clinical skills, and professional awareness following PREP requirements, and maintaining a professional profile.
To be accountable for own practice and ensure own competence in practice deliver care based on current evidence, best practice, and, where applicable, validated research when available
To assist in the development and implementation of nursing practice guidelines, standards, and policies.

PROBATIONARY PERIOD

This post will be subject to a probationary period of 6 months.

During the probationary period, your suitability for continued employment will be assessed and provided a satisfactory standard is achieved and maintained, your employment will be confirmed. The probationary period may be extended or your employment terminated either during or at the end of probation, in line with the trust Probationary Policy.
