Summary

Assistant Director of Estates (Capital Projects)

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Assistant Director of Estates (Capital Projects) to lead the development and delivery of NCG's capital investment programme. This senior leadership role is central to shaping the long‑term future of our estate-supporting organisational growth, service transformation, and our commitment to sustainability.

As a key member of the Estates Leadership Team, you will oversee multi-million‑pound capital programmes, ensuring excellence from initial concept through to delivery and handover. You will bring strategic expertise, strong commercial acumen, and the ability to lead large, multi-disciplinary teams across a complex and diverse estate portfolio.

You will be required to lead the delivery of major construction, refurbishment, and infrastructure projects across the NCG estate, shaping the long‑term capital investment and estate strategies, and managing significant capital budgets and oversee procurement, contracts, and financial governance. You will be responsible for ensuring the compliance with planning law, building regulations, CDM and health & safety along with leading a high‑performing team, consultants, and contractors.

You will be a resilient and forward-thinking leader with the credibility to influence at the highest levels. You'll demonstrate sound judgement, strategic thinking, and the ability to deliver in a fast-paced, multi-site environment. Above all, you'll be passionate about creating modern, sustainable, and inspiring spaces that support the future of learning.
