Summary


Applications are invited for a full time MDT coordinator in Cellular Pathology. The post holder will provide administrative and operational support for the histopathology service based at the Royal
Free Hospital.
This post is a key position which supports the Histopathology staff in the provision of the diagnostic cancer service and will predominantly involve the preparation of weekly Multidisciplinary meetings (MDM).
Key Duties include:
 The post holder is responsible for the preparation of all clinical materials and documentation
for weekly MDMs, operated on a rotation basis
 To act as the first point of call for Histopathology operations and deal with day to day issues
using own judgement to make decisions arising where appropriate and to escalate to
appropriate department/manager/senior staff for resolution.
 To assist the operations management team as required to ensure a smooth and efficient
running service
 To assist with the booking in of referral cases sent to the department
 To assist with filing of slides to help ensure the preparation of meetings is efficient
 To assist in the training of new staff in relevant policies and procedures

Key Responsibilities
1. To liaise with Cellular Pathology consultants and Trust multi-disciplinary team co-ordinators to
ensure that all patients with newly identified cancers are placed on the agenda of the relevant
MDM.
2. To provide the Trust cancer database manager with timely information so that the central database
is kept up to date
3. To monitor the MDT team inbox for requests and action as appropriately in a timely manner as per
the rota
4. To co-ordinate the activities of the Pathologists involved in the MDMs.
5. To provide administrative support for all Cellular Pathology consultants and specialist registrars in
preparation for weekly MDMs. This will include but is not limited to the follow:
a) Providing the Pathologists with appropriate reports and slides in a timely fashion in line
with the SOP

b) Providing general administrative duties to the Pathologists regarding issues arising
from multidisciplinary team meetings, including filing, sending away slides, basic
clerical duties and distributing documents quickly and efficiently
6. To ensure that records, statistics, and data are kept up to date and stored safely to ensure
compliance with good work practices required for the standards of Clinical Pathology Accreditation
(UK).
