Are you a Housing Officer/ Neighbourhood Officer looking to make a difference? Do you have a passion for Specialist Housing?

We have an opportunity for a Housing Officer to join our Specialist Housing team based at Cathedral Park Retirement Village, Hereford, with occasional travel to Platform Housing offices and other venues when required for training.

This is a part time role, working 28 hours per week, over 4 week days, alongside 2 Housing Officer colleagues. There is an expectation to work as a team to ensure the service is manned 9am-5pm Monday to Friday, therefore we are looking for someone who is a team player and offers flexibility to cover colleagues during planned and unplanned absence. You may also be required to be on a call rota approximately twice per year. This role is on a fixed-term contract until March 2027.

Cathedral Park is a brand new-build Retirement Village, comprising 80 x 1 and 2 bed apartments for over 55s. Cathedral Park also offers 3 x commercial units within the Village (a shop, salon and cafe) which are leased externally. The Housing Officers will work closely with the leaseholders of these units to monitor compliance with health and safety and to work collaboratively to deliver service which meets the needs of the customers at Cathedral Park and the wider public.

What could you be doing? 

As a Retirement Housing Officer, you will be providing a housing and tenancy management service to maximise tenancy sustainment.  You'll be a regular and flexible customer contact for the residents, providing practical and preventative support and advice. As well as this, you will signpost to specialist care and support services to maximise wellbeing, social interaction and minimise isolation. 

You will provide effective building management, including property inspections, risk assessments, H&S monitoring and compliance checks. Responding, investigating and taking timely action to reported breaches of tenancy agreements will be a key part of the role.

What are somethings that we need from you?

-Experience of working in a customer-facing role in a Housing organisation or with older people in a community/retirement housing.

-You will be customer focused and may have experience of working with customers to solve complex issues.

-Awareness of Welfare Benefits and able to identify when residents need sign posting for further support

-Experience conducting viewings, assessments and sign ups is desirable.

-An awareness of working with vulnerable Adults would be desirable.

-Knowledge of TEC alarm systems and Fire Alarm Systems, such as Le Grand and Appello is desirable.

-Great interpersonal skills and used to communicating with people from diverse backgrounds.

-Keen to deliver high standards with an ability to look to improve services too. 

-Confidence using digital devices, ICT software and systems.

-Due to the travel to offices and other facilities, a driving license and use of your own vehicle will be required. You will also need to be based in Herefordshire.

-An Enhanced DBS check is also required for this role.
