Safety Critical Role

Accrington’s historic Market Hall and Town Hall sit at the heart of a major town centre regeneration programme. As Accrington Market prepares to reopen this November, and the Town Hall comes back under Council management next year, we are looking for a dynamic leader to turn these landmark buildings into thriving destinations.

This is not just about day-to-day market operations. You'll have the opportunity to establish the operating model for both venues. You’ll bring the flair and vision to activate these stunning Grade II listed buildings, ensuring they reach their potential as vibrant hubs of cultural activity, retail, food and beverage offerings and entertainment, driving footfall and supporting the local economy.

What you'll do:
• Lead the Market Hall as a destination venue combining traditional trading with innovative food and beverage programming, cultural events and evening economy activation.
• From 2027, develop the Town Hall venue strategy, building on existing policies, commercial models, programming and partnerships that bring member ambitions to life.
• Manage teams across both buildings, act as shadow licence holder, set pricing and develop revenue strategies.
• Drive income growth while maintaining community focus.
• Work with Town Square partners to create integrated experiences that benefit the whole town centre.

What you'll bring:
• Substantial venue/events/hospitality management experience with proven commercial results
• Strategic and creative thinking
• Team leadership and financial management with strong stakeholder engagement skills
• Genuine community values
• Confidence to operate with autonomy while working closely with senior council colleagues, elected members and partners

This is a real opportunity to help shape something special and contribute to Accrington's regeneration.

As a Safety Critical role, you will be subject to drug and alcohol testing as part of our pre-employment checks. You will also be subject to testing at random intervals during the course of your employment

Closing Date: 12 noon Tuesday 7 April 2026
