Summary


The successful candidate will be required to work in the Adult Cardiorespiratory Enhanced and Responsive Service (ACERS) Psychology Service, which is a part of the Department of Respiratory Medicine within the Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The role of Assistant Psychologist will complement the role of the Senior Psychologist within the team, where psychological assessment and treatment, as well as joint-work and liaison with and consultation for other health professionals for case and referral management are key elements.Under the supervision of the Senior Psychologist, the post–holder will provide a range of psychological interventions including cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), systemic therapies, and brief dynamic interventions to assist clients with mild to moderate anxiety and depression, maladaptive health behaviours, and adjustment difficulties in the context of chronic respiratory conditions.

• Provide psychological assessments to patients with long-term respiratory conditions mainly in the community but sometimes also in the hospital.
• Provide psychological treatments under supervision.
• Co-facilitate group interventions.
• Appropriate to the banding of the role, undertake observations and consultations, and give feedback at meetings.
• Provide mood and cognitive screening to patients with long-term health conditions.
• To utilise research skills for audit and service development and research within the area served by the team/service.
• To assist in the preparation and delivery of in-service training/teaching sessions to healthcare professions from other disciplines (nurses, therapists, medical doctors) and presentations in local clinical seminars.
