JOB DESCRIPTION
A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
I am a 91-year-old lady living in the Sully area, I live independently at home but need some support with some household tasks and meal preparation. I have Age related forgetfulness but can get on with my day. I visit my Husband at the Waverley Nursing Home every day from 2.00pm – 7.00pm and am cared for by the team there. I enjoy chatting and discussing my past and very busy work life as I worked as a DL representing royalty in Wales.
PURPOSE OF JOB
Support at home to remain living independently
Team of 3 Personal Assistants so hours are flexible and can be swapped around if required
Holiday and sickness cover
Additional support is required now as more assistance is needed for help with getting up, lunch visits, food preparation and evening assistance to get to bed
No personal hygiene requirements at this stage but to have somebody on site when service user is in the bathroom – one of the other carers currently assists with showers etc
HOURS OF WORK
Minimum of 10 hours per week
Thursday, Friday, Sunday evenings and every other Saturday
evening 7.00pm – 9.00pm
Lunchtime visits 1.00pm – 2.00pm (when Daughter on respite)
RATES OF PAY
£14.00 per hour
TASKS INVOLVED
Some Personal care – eye cleaning
Dressing, undressing
Fall limitation – stair lift use but being there for on and off
Meals and preparation
Lifts from The Waverley
Very occasional shopping (Daughter does most of it)
Hospital appointments – rare
Household duties – dishes, rubbish and hoovering
Any other reasonable task
Car driver/Access to a car to transport employer.
Clean driving license

ABOUT THE JOB
Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid 4 weekly and appropriate holiday pay given.
The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority).
