Summary
Following a restructure, we’re delighted to offer an exciting opportunity to join our small and friendly Financial Services team as a Finance Business Partner. This is an ideal time to join us and play a key role in shaping the team and the way we support the Authority in the future.
These important roles provide professional financial expertise across a wide range of services, helping us deliver an efficient, effective and proactive financial function for the Authority.
What you’ll be doing
As one of our Finance Business Partners, you will:
• Manage and support a Finance Assistant.
• Provide clear, robust financial advice to budget holders and senior officers.
• Set budgets, carry out budget monitoring and close the accounts for your assigned services.
• Lead on ad hoc projects and tasks within Financial Services.
• Jointly lead on the Council’s insurance claims and renewals together with fellow Finance Business Partners.
• Pro-actively seek opportunities to enhance financial support across the Council and contribute to service efficiencies.
You will also take responsibility for a selection of specialist areas, which may include:
• Fixed Assets and Capital Accounting
• VAT, Partial Exemption and other tax advice
• Treasury Management and Cash Flow Forecasting
• Financial Systems
• Section 106
• Government Returns
About you
We’re looking for someone who can bring professional expertise, curiosity, and a proactive approach, You will:
• Be CCAB qualified, part-qualified and working towards accreditation, or have extensive experience in an equivalent role and be able to demonstrate a comparable level of knowledge and capability.
• Have a strong technical understanding of Local Government accounting.
• Possess excellent numeracy skills with strong attention to detail.
• Have excellent problem-solving skills.
• Be an effective communicator, able to explain complex financial matters clearly to non-finance colleagues.
• Have extensive knowledge of MS Office, with advanced Excel skills, and experience working with financial software.
• Ideally have some prior management experience.
• Be committed to delivering a high-quality service.
