Summary

As a Power Generation Operative You will manage the day to day operation of the Main Power Station. You will monitor generators from the control room and the engine hall, carry out periodic checks, and ensure all equipment operates safely and within required parameters.

You will plan and support preventative maintenance and repair activities and maintain high housekeeping standards across the Power Station. You will work as part of a shift system and contribute to the safe and reliable delivery of power generation services



Main Duties
-Monitor all machinery, equipment and systems to ensure they operate within specified parameters.

-Produce accurate daily servicing and engine records and support report preparation when required.

-Work within a shift system, carrying out PPM tasks and hourly logging of diesel generators.

-Monitor the main distribution control panel and engine fault alarm systems.

-Synchronise and load share generators and wind turbines up to 1.5 MW onto 11 kV 50 Hz main busbars.

-Assist electrical and mechanical personnel in the daily operation of both the Main and Standby Power Stations.

-Maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment at all times.

-Carry out water treatment plant checks when working night shifts.



What We Are Looking For



Essential

-Ability to obtain MoD SC security clearance.

-Ability to obtain a Falkland Islands Government permit to work, supported by a UK Basic Police Check.

-Medically and dentally fit to work in the Falkland Islands.

-Computer literate in Word, Excel and Outlook.

-Full clean driving licence.

-Effective interpersonal and written communication skills.

-Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a varied workload.

-Team focused with a commitment to performance and quality.



Desirable

-Experience working within a shift system.

-Previous experience in the Falkland Islands or in an MoD overseas environment.

-Understanding of control systems and related operational experience.

-Experience delivering customer care and supporting client needs.
