About Us
Saltdean Pre-School is a small, friendly, and welcoming setting caring for up to 30 children aged 2–5 years. We are open term time only and between the hours of 8.10am-3.10pm, Mon-Fri.
We have a well-established team and a strong focus on children’s interests, free play, and positive adult interactions. Our aim is to create a safe, happy place where every child can flourish and reach their potential. We are a charity led by a parent committee.

About the Role
We are looking for a fun, motivated, and caring Level 2 Early Years Practitioner to join our team.

Permanent Working Hours:
Monday: 8:30am – 1:10pm
Wednesday: 8:00am – 1:10pm
Thursday: 8:30am – 1:10pm

Additional temporary Hours (until March 2027):
Friday: 8:30am – 1:10pmThis role is 14 hours 30 minutes per week, permanent, increasing to 19 hours 10 minutes per week until Jan 2027 due to temporary additional hours on Fridays.

What you’ll do:
Create a welcoming, safe, and stimulating environment for all children.
Provide quality care and engaging learning opportunities tailored to individual needs.
Support both adult-led and child-initiated activities.
Observe children’s play, record progress, and plan next steps.
Offer occasional 1:1 support where needed.
Prepare and serve snacks, promoting healthy eating and sociable mealtimes.
Follow our safeguarding, health & safety, and other policies at all times

About You
You’ll bring:
• Level 2 qualification in Early Years Childcare (essential)
• SEN experience (desirable)
• Good understanding of the EYFS framework
• Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
• Previous experience with children aged 0–5
• Paediatric First Aid qualification (or willingness to train)
• Flexibility, dependability, and a caring approach
• Strong communication skills and a team spirit
