Following an internal promotion, we’re seeking a full time Environmental Health Officer to join our busy Food Health and Safety team. You’ll work within an experienced, dynamic, multi skilled service covering food safety, health and safety, infectious disease control, skin piercing registrations and animal licensing. No two days are the same, and your work will directly support building safer, healthier communities.

Key responsibilities include:
• Carrying out proactive and reactive inspections across a wide range of premises.
• Supporting local businesses to maintain and improve standards.
• Investigating infectious disease notifications and food poisoning cases.
• Inspecting and registering skin piercing activities.
• Undertaking animal licensing visits (subject to qualification).
• Responding to complaints, service requests and RIDDOR incidents.
• Using enforcement powers appropriately to secure compliance.

What you will need:
As a qualified Environmental Health Officer, you’ll be registered with the Environmental Health Officers Registration Board or the on the CIEH Professional Register, with recognised food safety and health and safety competencies. You’ll meet the requirements of the Food Law Code of Practice and bring sound knowledge of relevant legislation and enforcement practice.

You’ll be self motivated and an effective communicator with a strong commitment to customer service. You’ll handle challenging situations with confidence, apply a risk based approach, be able to analyse complex information and make sound risk-based decisions. Strong teamwork, a positive attitude and the ability to work to deadlines within established procedures are essential.
