Summary

English Teacher – Alternative Provision (SEMH), Uxbridge

Are you a passionate and resilient English Teacher looking for a truly rewarding opportunity? TLTP are working with a specialist Alternative Provision in Uxbridge who are seeking an inspiring English Teacher to join their dedicated team on a full-time basis.

This role is ideal for an English Teacher who is confident supporting students with complex behavioural, social, emotional, and mental health needs. The successful English Teacher will deliver engaging and structured lessons that help students achieve academic success while building confidence, resilience, and positive learning behaviours.

The role would suit an English Teacher who thrives in a supportive but structured environment and is committed to helping young people who may have experienced barriers to mainstream education.

About the School

This specialist Alternative Provision in Uxbridge supports students who are unable to access mainstream education due to SEMH needs, behavioural challenges, or previous school exclusions.

The provision offers:

Small class sizes (typically 6–8 pupils)


High staff-to-student ratios with additional Teaching Assistant support


A focused and flexible curriculum centred on core subjects and functional skills


A structured, therapeutic approach to behaviour and emotional regulation


A supportive team experienced in working with students with complex behavioural needs


The English Teacher will play a key role in creating a safe, consistent, and engaging classroom environment, helping students re-engage with learning and work towards GCSE or alternative English qualifications, while developing essential life and communication skills.

Requirements for the English Teacher

QTS or QTLS (essential)


Experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable but not essential)


Experience working with challenging behaviour, SEMH needs, or Alternative Provision settings


Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills


Ability to plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons


A calm, patient, and resilient approach


A genuine passion for supporting young people who require additional behavioural and emotional support
