TeacherActive is proud to be working with a therapeutic residential children’s home in Arnold, supporting young people who may have experienced trauma, adverse childhood experiences, or emotional and behavioural difficulties. The home provides a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where young people are supported to rebuild confidence, develop life skills, and achieve positive outcomes.
We are seeking a dedicated Residential Children’s Support Worker to join the team and provide consistent care, guidance, and emotional support. This role is ideal for individuals with experience in residential childcare, youth work, support work, or care settings, who are passionate about making a genuine difference in young people’s lives.
Key Responsibilities-
Provide day-to-day care and support for children and young people in a residential setting

Build positive, trusting relationships and act as a consistent role model

Support young people with emotional regulation, behaviour management, and personal development
-
Assist with daily routines, including meals, activities, education support, and appointments
-
Promote independence, life skills, and confidence
-
Plan and take part in recreational and community activities
-
Maintain accurate care records and reports
-
Work collaboratively with social workers, education providers, and other professionals
-
Ensure the safety, safeguarding, and wellbeing of all young people at all times
Requirements-
Experience working with children or young people in residential care, youth work, education, or support settings

Understanding of challenging behaviour and de-escalation strategies

Knowledge of trauma-informed care (desirable)

Patient, resilient, and empathetic approach

Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins
-
Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection
-
A commitment to helping young people achieve positive outcomes
-
Level 3 in Residential Childcare (desirable but not essential)
