Summary

Production Manager (080jc) – Leighton Buzzard - £45 – 50k + Benefits

This an ideal role for an SNCO who is transitioning or recently transitioned from the Armed Forces who have experience leading teams, managing operations, and delivering results in high-tempo environments.

As a Production Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations, ensuring production targets are achieved safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

Your military leadership, planning ability, and operational discipline will translate directly into this role.

You will be reporting to the Production and Operations Director, with two direct reports, and be responsible for a team of between 30 to 50 personnel during peak periods.

Key Responsibilities

Production Planning & Delivery
• Plan and coordinate production activities to meet delivery deadlines and operational targets.
• Establish production schedules and manage workflow to maximise efficiency.

Operational Efficiency
• Monitor production output and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and control costs.
• Quickly resolve operational issues to maintain continuity of production.

Quality Assurance
• Ensure all products meet strict quality standards and specifications.
• Maintain a culture of high standards and accountability across the team.

Team Leadership
• Lead and manage production teams, including shift planning, task allocation, and performance management.
• Provide mentoring, training, and development to build a high-performing workforce.

Health & Safety Compliance
• Ensure safe working practices are followed at all times.
• Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations and company procedures.

Supply Chain Coordination
• Work closely with suppliers and internal teams to ensure materials are available when required.
• Coordinate with logistics and sales teams to support delivery commitments.

Reporting & Communication
• Produce operational reports and updates for senior management.
• Track production performance and identify areas for improvement.

The ideal candidate would probably be a Senior JNCO or SNCO and coming from a logistics, REME, engineering, supply chain background, however this role is open to anyone who can combine the ability to motivate a team and make sure people hit deadlines.

To be eligible for this role you will need the following:
• Leadership & Team Management, proven experience leading teams, maintaining discipline, and delivering results.
• Operational Problem Solving, ability to assess situations quickly, troubleshoot issues, and maintain operational output under pressure.
• Organisation & Planning, strong planning, coordination, and scheduling ability.
• IT & Systems, comfortable using IT systems including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
