Summary

About Discovery

At Discovery, we're all about empowering those with learning disabilities and autism to live their very best lives across Somerset, BANES and Dorset. As part of Dimensions—one of the UK's leading not-for-profit organisations with over 40 years of experience—we're proud to champion support that's grounded in ambition, courage, integrity, partnership and respect. These aren't just values to us; they're the heartbeat of everything we do.

Every day, we support people to gain confidence, build independence and make choices that matter to them. For some, that might mean finding a job they love; for others it's about learning new skills, exploring hobbies, or simply having the right support to navigate daily life. We believe meaningful employment can be life-changing, and we work closely with individuals to develop strengths, open doors to opportunities, and secure roles that feel truly right for them.

Our support continues long after someone starts work—we're there to ensure they have the adjustments, guidance and encouragement they need to shine. Whether it's workplace coaching, advocacy, or championing inclusive environments, we're building a future where everyone is valued, included, and able to thrive.

Thanks to our amazing teams, Dimensions Group has been accredited as a Great Place to Work for 2025 — our seventh consecutive year of recognition.

About the role

Eliot Court is a lively, friendly home where eight wonderful people we support live. The group is a mix of adults in their 30s to 60s, with a range of abilities, personalities and support needs—most are quite independent, with some needing a little extra help across the day. Some people have autism, epilepsy (well managed), OCD, mental-health needs, physical disabilities and occasional behaviours of distress. Communication styles vary too. Some require help with personal care, and two people use wheelchairs and hoists for mobility support.

What truly brings Eliot Court to life are the people who call it home and the hobbies, interests and passion that make each day feel meaningful and full of personality. It's a place full of laughter, music, fun, and the occasional disco tune drifting down the corridor! You might spend your day helping someone tend to their garden, proudly growing fresh fruit and vegetables, or support people who loves going out for coffee, catching up over a warm drink, or spending time browsing the shops. Others look forward to bowling trips, cinema outings, and the popular tribute nights at Oak Manor. Weekly food shopping is an important routine for several people, helping build confidence and independence.

Shifts run from 7:00 to 14:30 and 14:30 to 22:00, with one sleep-in per week and work alternate weekends.

About you

You don't need experience—just the right values. To thrive as a Support Worker at Eliot Court, you'll be someone who is patient, kind, positive and genuinely cares about making people's lives brighter. You'll be someone who listens deeply, notices the small things, and celebrates every achievement—big or small.

You'll be adaptable, calm under pressure, and happy to get stuck in with anything from personal care to dancing at the Thursday disco. You'll enjoy supporting people to be independent, make choices, try new activities and stay connected to their community, family and friends.

Most importantly, you'll bring compassion, reliability and a good sense of fun. Because here, the difference you make is real—from giving someone the confidence to cook a meal, to helping them enjoy a night out, to being the reassuring, friendly presence they look forward to seeing each day.
