About this opportunity
Westmorland and Furness Council is seeking to recruit a Revenues Specialist to work within the Revenues Team. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of Westmorland and Furness Council’s Revenues and Benefits service.
In this role, you will be supporting the Revenues Manager in delivering an effective Revenues Service including all aspects of Business Rates, Council Tax and Business Improvement Districts. The post holder will ensure that processes reflect Council policies, procedures, legislation and best practice to ensure efficient and effective service delivery. The postholder will support the service with production and analysis of data, information, reconciliation and completion of statutory returns and supporting documentation. This will involve the testing and completion of live annual billing and the year end processes. You would be responsible for ensuring prompt billing to maximise council revenue, liaison with the Valuation Office and administrating their schedules.
Who we are looking for…
Have experience of working in a local authority Revenues role.
Possess a working knowledge of legislation in Business Rates and Council Tax.
Have a working knowledge and ideally be proficient in the use of a Revenues system.
Be able to ensure statutory duties, policies and procedures are adhered to.
Be educated to A level standard/NVQ3 and/or some experience in working in Revenues. With professional qualification, working towards professional qualification or equivalent, or relevant working experience in Revenues.
Have excellent communication skills with a range of different audiences.
Be able to work on your own initiative.
Have the ability to provide technical advice and guidance to customers, colleagues, and external organisations, in the most appropriate way.
Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines with high levels of accuracy.
Ability to deliver high standards and good customer service.
Proven ability to enforce legislation where appropriate.
