Acting Nursery Manager (Maternity Cover) | Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire
Action Staffing Ltd is seeking an experienced, high-energy Acting Nursery Manager to lead a vibrant nursery setting in Aylesbury (HP20). This is a 1-year maternity cover position for a leader who is passionate about maintaining high standards of care while driving the nursery toward its next success.

Job Overview
Role: Acting Nursery Manager / Interim Head of Nursery

Location: Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire (HP20 1PH)

Salary: £40,000 per annum + Performance Bonuses

Hours: 40 hours per week (Monday – Friday)

Contract: Temporary / Fixed-Term Contract (Maternity Cover – approx. 12 months)

Sector: Education Management / Early Years (EY)

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership: Overlapping with the current manager to ensure a seamless transition and day-to-day operational excellence.

Ofsted Compliance: Ensuring the setting remains fully compliant with EYFS frameworks, Statutory Framework, and Health & Safety regulations.

Team Management: Supporting and motivating a dedicated team of Early Years Practitioners and Room Leaders, conducting 1-to-1s, and fostering a positive work culture.

Occupancy & Growth: Managing parent enquiries, conducting show-rounds, and implementing marketing strategies to maintain high occupancy levels.

Financial Oversight: Monitoring budgets, managing staff-to-child ratios, and achieving nursery KPIs to trigger performance bonuses.

Requirements & Qualifications
Qualification: Minimum Level 3 in Childcare/Early Years (Level 5, Early Years Professional Status (EYPS), or Degree in Early Years is highly preferred).

Experience: Proven experience as a Nursery Manager, Senior Deputy Manager, or Center Director in a medium-to-large setting.

Safeguarding: Strong knowledge of safeguarding procedures and child protection (Designated Safeguarding Lead / DSL experience is essential).

Skills: Excellent communication, strong IT literacy (experience with nursery management software like Connect Childcare or EYWorks), and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
