Summary
Myland Community Council is looking for a Community Maintenance Operative to help look after the streets, parks, open spaces, and public assets that the people of Myland rely on every day. It's a varied, outdoor job that gets you out into the community rather than stuck behind a desk, and the results of your work are visible to everyone around you.
No two days are quite the same. You might start the morning handing out recycling supplies, spend the middle of the day cleaning up graffiti or repairing a noticeboard, and finish the afternoon helping set up for a community event. You'll carry out regular checks on our publicly accessible defibrillators, keep on top of litter picking across the area, and take care of our planted spaces through the seasons. You'll keep a daily log of what you've done and photograph your completed work, so basic IT confidence is helpful.
To do this job well, you'll need a full UK driving licence and your own vehicle with business use insurance — we'll reimburse your mileage. Beyond that, we're looking for someone with practical experience in grounds or outdoor maintenance, a good head for organising their own workload, and a genuine enjoyment of working independently outdoors. You'll be a familiar face to local residents, so being approachable and friendly matters as much as anything else.
