Summary
We’re looking for a creative, confident and highly skilled Visitor Economy Communications Manager to join the West Midlands Growth Company. If you excel at shaping narratives, driving media coverage and building compelling stories that put destinations on the map, this role offers the opportunity to lead high‑impact communications that promote one of the UK’s most exciting regions.
Who are we?
The West Midlands Growth Company (WMGC) is the region’s official economic development and destination promotion agency.
From April 2026, we will deliver a refreshed programme of regionally commissioned economic development activity aligned to the West Midlands Growth Plan — working in close partnership with the West Midlands Combined Authority and local authorities.
We’re building an ambitious, insight‑driven, business‑focused organisation that attracts visitors, investment and global attention — showcasing the West Midlands’ vibrant offer, world‑class events, and thriving visitor economy.
If you want your work to influence how the West Midlands is seen nationally and internationally, this is your opportunity.
The Role
As our new Visitor Economy Communications Manager, you will lead the storytelling that positions the West Midlands as a standout destination for leisure visitors, international tourists, conferences and major events.
This role sits at the heart of our place‑promotion activity — ideal for a strategic communicator who loves crafting narratives, developing campaigns, building media relationships and amplifying the region’s strengths.
You’ll be responsible for driving media coverage, shaping high‑quality content, developing regional messaging, and supporting major destination initiatives such as the West Midlands Destination Development Partnership.
Your work will help elevate the region’s profile, attract audiences globally, and support long‑term regional growth.
