Summary

What skills and experience we're looking for

Education and qualifications

GCSE or equivalent level, including at least a Grade4 (previously Grade C) in English and Math’s

Emotional literacy support assistant qualification

Professional knowledge and experience

Experience working in a school environment orother educational setting

Experience working with children / young people

Experience planning, delivering or assisting learningactivities

Good literacy and numeracy skills

Good organisational skills

Ability to build effective working relationships withpupils and adults

Knowledge of how to help adapt and deliversupport to meet individual needs

Subject and curriculum knowledge relevant to therole, and ability to apply this effectively insupporting teachers and pupils

Excellent verbal communication skills

Active listening skills

The ability to remain calm in stressful situations

Good ICT skills, particularly using ICT to supportlearning

Understanding of roles and responsibilities withinthe classroom and whole school context

Traits and competencies

Committed to and good understanding ofSafeguarding and Child Protection practice andprocedure

Able to carry out routine tasks without closesupervision

Able to identify, prioritise and deal with issues asthey occur
