Leeds West Academy is a happy, inclusive and ambitious school rooted in its community, where strong relationships and shared values enable young people to thrive. This reflects the lived experience of our students, families and staff, and why there has never been a better time to join us.

Our vision is to unite and inspire our community through the power of education, opportunity and inspiration, securing successful futures for the children of the west of Leeds. This vision shapes everything we do. We believe that every young person deserves an excellent education and that schools thrive when staff feel trusted, supported and able to do their best work.

As part of the White Rose Academies Trust, Leeds West Academy proudly serves the communities of Bramley and Rodley and is a popular, oversubscribed academy, with increasing numbers of families choosing us as their first choice. Our students engage positively with learning and contribute to a purposeful environment where high standards and strong relationships go hand in hand.

We are equally proud of the culture we have built for our staff. Leeds West Academy is a fabulous place to work, underpinned by a strong sense of belonging and shared purpose. Colleagues are supported to grow and innovate at every stage of their career. We are proud of our exceptional Professional Development provision. It is bespoke and aligned to both individual ambition and whole-school priorities, including opportunities for fully funded qualifications, structured leadership pathways, and meaningful ways to contribute beyond their own role.
Our academy benefits from outstanding facilities within a £30 million modern building, enhanced by a significant expansion in 2023. Bright, well-resourced learning spaces, alongside industry-standard performing arts and sports facilities, support an ambitious curriculum and a rich Personal Development experience for students and staff alike.

Leeds West Academy is an academy on a confident journey of Evolving Excellence. We are reflective and outward-facing, committed to continual improvement, and guided by our values and our community.

We welcome applications from colleagues who share our belief in the transformative power of education and who want to make a meaningful difference to both student outcomes and lives.

If you are passionate about education, committed to inclusion, and excited by the opportunity to grow within a supportive and ambitious community, we would love to hear from you.

Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Leeds West Academy for a dedicated and proactive professional to play a pivotal role in promoting the health, safety, and wellbeing of our students and staff. This is a highly rewarding position at the heart of our academy community, ensuring that everyone on site receives exceptional care and support.

As our Health & Safety and First Aid Lead, you will take responsibility for delivering a high-quality service across key areas of Health & Safety. Your duties will include processing risk assessments, coordinating Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs), assessing medical and dietary needs, and leading the academy’s medical and first aid provision.

Working closely with teaching staff, student representatives and external partners, you will ensure that students’ individual needs are fully supported. You will also contribute to the development and administration of policies and procedures that underpin our commitment to student welfare.

We are seeking a candidate with strong knowledge, relevant experience, and a calm, professional, and caring approach. You will be an effective team player who demonstrates courtesy, compassion, and professionalism in all interactions with pupils, colleagues, and parents. Experience in a school environment would be an advantage.

If you are passionate about safeguarding the wellbeing of others and want to make a meaningful impact in a vibrant academy setting, we would love to hear from you.

When you join us, you become a part of something much larger than yourself – you become part of a team that is dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of our students and the wider communities that we serve.
