As a Cook with Sodexo, you’ll support the Cook Manager in delivering nutritious, high-quality meals to students and staff while helping to create a welcoming dining experience within the school.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you will play an important part in keeping the kitchen running smoothly while delivering excellent food and service:

  • Prepare, cook, and serve food to company standards, including breakfast, break, lunch, and occasional hospitality

  • Support the Cook Manager with daily kitchen operations

  • Ensure food is presented attractively and served to the correct portion sizes

  • Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and allergen compliance

  • Follow key compliance processes including HACCP, COSHH, and Health & Safety regulations

  • Help train and support other catering team members

  • Ensure service counters and dining areas are clean, tidy, and welcoming

  • Complete daily and weekly cleaning duties across preparation, storage, and service areas

  • Deliver excellent customer service to students, staff, and visitors

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who enjoys cooking, working as part of a team, and delivering great service:

  • At least 1 year of hands-on cooking experience

  • Experience cooking for larger groups (400 - 500 students) is desirable

  • Confidence working with fresh ingredients and following recipes

  • Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards

  • Ability to stay organised and work efficiently in a busy kitchen

  • Positive attitude, reliability, and a team-focused approach

  • Basic food hygiene or food handling certification (training will also be provided)

Package Description

“A role where you can bring your passion for food”

  • £14.15 per hour
  • 30 hours per week
  • Working pattern: Monday - Friday (07.30 -14.30)
  • Term Time only (39 week Working Contract paid over 52 weeks)**

**Equated pay (sometimes known as spread-over pay) is a method of paying you for your contracted hours, working weeks and holiday pay spread over 12 months instead of just receiving pay during the months that you work and none during the school closures/non-working weeks. This means that you get paid equal amounts of pay every month. Further information will be supplied at interview stage.**
