Summary

Job Title: Advanced Senior Carer Band: Band 3 Equivalent Reports To: Care Coordinator / Senior Management Role Purpose The Advanced Senior Carer is a senior role within the care team responsible for delivering high-quality, person-centred care to children and young people with complex health needs in community settings. The role combines advanced clinical care skills with leadership, mentoring, and operational support responsibilities. The post holder will act as a role model within the team, supporting carers to maintain high standards of care, ensuring safe clinical practice, and contributing to the effective coordination of care services. The Advanced Senior Carer will also act as a bridge between frontline carers and senior management to support consistent communication and service delivery. Key ResponsibilitiesCare Delivery Deliver high-quality, person-centred care to children and young people with complex needs in accordance with individual care plans and clinical competencies. Support and deliver advanced clinical care tasks in line with training and competency sign-offs. Monitor and record observations accurately, recognising and escalating any concerns appropriately. Maintain dignity, safety, and wellbeing of children and young people at all times. Communicate effectively with families and ensure a supportive and respectful care environment. Leadership and Mentoring Provide guidance, mentoring, and practical support to Band 13 carers. Act as a role model for professional behaviour, safe practice, and communication. Support new carers during induction and competency development. Provide constructive feedback to support professional growth within the team. Promote a positive team culture that supports collaboration and learning. Operational and Rota Support Provide support to the Care Coordinator with rota coordination, shift planning, and workforce organisation where required. Assist in resolving day-to-day operational challenges including staffing changes and shift cover. Support continuity of care by helping ensure shifts are covered appropriately. Contribute to maintaining efficient service delivery and team communication. Professional Standards and Governance Maintain high professional standards in attendance, conduct, and performance. Ensure accurate documentation and reporting in line with organisational policies and regulatory requirements. Recognise and escalate safeguarding concerns in accordance with safeguarding procedures. Support quality assurance processes and continuous improvement of care services. Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and clinical governance requirements. Safeguarding Responsibilities Maintain vigilance for safeguarding concerns relating to children and young people. Escalate concerns promptly and accurately through appropriate safeguarding channels. Maintain professional boundaries and uphold safeguarding responsibilities at all times. Communication Maintain effective communication with families, colleagues, and management. Support positive relationships between carers and families. Contribute to professional and respectful communication within the care team. Professional Development Maintain required clinical competencies and mandatory training. Participate in supervision, training, and professional development activities. Support ongoing learning and development within the care team. Additional Requirements Participate in the On-Call rota as required. Maintain up-to-date clinical competency sign-offs and refresher training. Be willing to travel across the region to support care delivery where required.
